Not long ago, things looked very different: our pregnant mares were supposed to leave the pasture within a week. Today we can announce the opposite.
A petition to the state parliament
We didn't give up – instead we filed a petition with the state parliament (Landtag). And it made a difference: as long as the petitions committee is reviewing our case, our mares are allowed to stay on the pasture for now. They'll have their foals in a protected setting – exactly what we wanted most.
Visits from press and politics
The past few days have been eventful, in the best possible way. On Monday, SWR (public broadcaster) came to our farm to film a segment, as did the local papers LKZ and VKZ. Representatives from politics also came, including Konrad Epple, Dr. Markus Rösler, and the press spokesperson for the city of Vaihingen.
Around 70 people stood behind us
Thanks to a call to action from a committed resident of Ensingen, around 70 people suddenly showed up – simply to show: we stand behind you.
I'll admit openly that this moved me deeply. Instead of having to organize the mares' move that Monday, I got to share good news instead. So much support from so many directions gives me strength and courage for whatever comes next.
What comes next
Not everything is resolved yet. For our mares' pasture, we hope to find a good, lasting solution together. But today, gratitude simply outweighs everything else.

Polly and Carisma, two two-year-old dark brown mares, are new to our farm. Both are pregnant, so we hope to welcome two healthy crias in early October 2026. The mares now have plenty of peace to settle into their new home and get used to the herd.
